Job Description:
The Attending Physician for a Mental Health Facility will provide psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental health disorders. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health services and ensure patient safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Patient Care:
    • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
    • Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring appropriate use and monitoring for side effects.
    • Provide psychotherapy or refer patients to appropriate therapeutic services as needed.
    • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  2. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and other team meetings.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing education and support as needed.
  3. Compliance and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
    • Ensure all documentation meets legal and ethical standards for confidentiality and patient care.
    • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Stay current with developments in psychiatry and mental health treatment.
    • Participate in continuing medical education (CME) activities and professional development opportunities.
    • Mentor and supervise medical students, residents, or other healthcare professionals as needed.
  5. Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and facility operations.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Licensure: Valid medical license to practice psychiatry in the state where the facility is located.
  • Certification: Board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a mental health setting preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment and treatment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.


Work Environment:

  • The position is based in a mental health facility, which may include inpatient, outpatient, or residential treatment settings.
  • The role may involve working with diverse patient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and elderly individuals.
  • The position may require participation in on-call rotations and flexible working hours to meet patient needs.
